There will be no regular meeting due to the Duke Wright Media Technology Institute this week in La Crosse.

Our July meeting will be on Tuesday, July 15th. It will be our chapter picnic at the Fox 11 Field House in Green Bay. Please see the newsletter for RSVP information.

Our August meeting will be on Tuesday, August 19th at Noon at Sam’s Pizza of Schofield.

September brings the Midwest Regional Broadcasters Clinic September 16th and 17th at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton. More information is available at the clinic website.

May 2025 News and Notes

This Month

Our May meeting will be Tuesday, May 20th, at Noon at the Out-O-Town Club in Kaukauna. If there are no reception issues, our program this month will be a comparison of off-air signals from an ATSC 3.0 station and ATSC 1.0 TV stations. Zoom information in is the newsletter.

There will not be a regular meeting in June. Remember to register for the WBA Duke Wright Media Technology Institute June 17th thorugh the 19th at the Radisson in La Crosse. Hotel reservations must be made by May 22nd and registration for the event is due by May 29th.

April 2025 News And Notes

Our April meeting will be on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Noon at the Out-O-Town Club in Kaukauna.

The program this month is from Rob Riordan, founder of Cellcom, who is now retired. He will be discussing some of the new products and services that were at this year’s NAB Show including remote control of studios, AI, new cameras and microphones. New streaming products like Hive and Stream deck will be covered as well as NDI video delivery.

November 2024 News and Notes

Our November meeting will be on Tuesday, November 19 at Noon at the Out-O-Town Club in Kaukauna.

We hill be holding our elections at the meeting.

Our Program will be Megan Clappe, our SBE Certification Director, She will be speaking about the SBE Certification Program and all aspects of it. 

We will be rvoting to ratify our updated bylaws at the December meeting. They are provided below.

Program

Ed Czarnecki, Vice President, Government and Global Affairs, Digital Alert Systems will present our program this month, he will be joining us via zoom.

Topic:  NextGen Broadcast Tech for NextGen Warnings:  A quick dive into several trends and innovations in the broadcast radio and TV environment, covering topics such as:  how EAS can support station virtualization, enhancing alerts in HD radio with graphical displays, ATSC 3.0 an Advanced Emergency Information for nextgenTV, and enhancing visual EAS with symbology.  We’ll review recent collaborative ATSC 3.0 initiatives between ATSC, NVISA and FEMA IPAWS, and select developments in HD Radio alerting.

Speaker profile:  Ed Czarnecki (Vice President, Government and Global Affairs, Digital Alert Systems).  Ed works with public sector and advanced technology initiatives at Digital Alert Systems, and is current Executive Director of the NextGen Video Information Systems Alliance (NVISA).  He is also co-chair of the ATSC Advanced Emergency Information Implementation Team and chair of the ATSC Emergency Alerts working group.  He was recently appointed to be a member of the new FEMA IPAWS Working Group.
